While on a recent trip to Gainesville, I had the chance to eat at Metro Diner, which offers a scrumptious menu of all kinds of comfort food. The original diner in Jacksonville was featured on Guy Fieri’s Food Network show, Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.
This was actually my second visit to the Gainesville location, and the food was so tasty the first time around that not even being stuck in stop-and-go traffic for 45 minutes on I-75 could put a damper on the experience. If anything, the unexpectedly longer drive just made me hungrier and more excited for dinner!
The menu features quite a variety, and breakfast at this particular location is available all day. They also have a full breakfast menu. Both times I’ve eaten there, I’ve felt a bit overwhelmed by the number of menu options because everything sounds so delicious!
Since I tried the Fried Chicken Sandwich on my first visit to the diner (and the sandwich, with chicken tenders, bacon, cheese, and honey mustard was absolutely amazing, by the way), I wanted to try something different this time. I ended up keeping it simple with the All American Burger and onion rings on the side:
The burger was excellent, but I really have to rave about the onion rings, lol. I’d ordered them the previous time, and they were crisped to perfection. I was not disappointed with them this time, either! My family was equally happy with the Chicken Pot Pie and Pulled Pork Mac Stack, which is barbecued pulled pork served over mac and cheese and a cornbread waffle.
The portions are hearty, so be sure to arrive with an appetite. If you have the opportunity to visit one of Metro Diner’s 20 plus locations in Florida, don’t pass it up!
